the life of jetsun dragpa gyaltsen
by h.E. asanga vajra rinpoche
Sunday April 2, 12 noon (CET)
On the occasion of the anniversary of Jetsun Dragpa Gyaltsen, on Sunday, April 2, H.E. Asanga Vajra Rinpoche will give teachings on this great master’s life as one of the five founders of the Sakya school. Since one of the statues presiding over the altar hall of Casa Virupa is that of Jetsun Dragpa Gyaltsen (on the advice of Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche), Lama Ngawang Norbu requested Asanga Vajra Rinpoche to give teachings on the life of this glorious master. It is a great opportunity, as His Eminence has been very rigorously compiling the stories of the great masters of the Sakya tradition.

About HE Asanga Vajra Rinpoche
His Eminence Khondung Asanga Vajra Sakya Rinpoche is the son of H.E. Khondung Ani Vajra Sakya Rinpoche, the second son of the Phuntsok Phodrang and Dagmola Chimey la family. He is also the grandson of H.H. Dagchen Rinpoche and is therefore a direct descendant of the unbroken Khon lineage dating back to 1073.
Asanga Rinpoche studied at Tharlam Monastery. At the age of twelve, Asanga Vajra Rinpoche took the Vajrakilya Puja examination and led the congregation of lamas at Sakya Center in Rajpur, India, making him the youngest to successfully pass this complex, rigorous and extensive religious ritual leading the gathering. He is currently studying at Sakya College in Rajpur, under the tutelage of Ven. Khenpo Gyaltso la, the head abbot of this prestigious center of studies.
