reading group:
"not to be happy" by dzongsar khyentse rinpoche
Arne Schelling, instructor of meditation and Buddhist philosophy in Europe appointed by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, will give a monograph on the Madhyamaka, the middle way, inaugurated by the Buddhist teacher Nagarjuna.

These are perfect teachings for those who are interested in delving into Buddhist philosophy, entering the Madhyamaka, one of the most exciting and enriching philosophical theories that exist, as it deals with the empty nature of phenomena.
During this weekend, we will explore the universe of Madhyamaka. Instead of getting lost in hair-splitting debates with obsolete India schools, we will look into the basic principles of the Madhyamaka view and their practical application.
This weekend course will comprise four main topics:
1) First we will discuss the greater context of the Madhyamaka teachings: the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma, the four philosophical buddhist schools and how Madhyamaka was taught in India, Tibet and now in the “West”.
2) Secondly we will explore the two levels of reality, which are a crucial way to understand the world, its inhabitants and how ethical behaviour, rebirth and karma can be established.
3) As the third main topic we will learn and apply analytical meditations on the two types of selflessness.
4) In conclusion, we will focus on the main arguments that Madhyamaka uses, with an emphasis on an understanding of dependent arising.
Format
The activity can be followed in person (limited places) and live online, with access to the recording for 1 month after the teachings.
ā
In the face-to-face format, participants can spend the night at home or in town, in a hotel or hostel. If they stay outside, they can have lunch and dinner in Casa Virupa, but breakfast is outside the center.
